Dr. Abeer Dababneh

Director and associcate professor at the Center for Women’s Studies (CWS) and Board member of ANA HUNNA International Network

“Women in Jordan are very educated, but there are still too many reasons why they don’t make the transition into the job market: cultural, religious or infrastructural reasons – or simply because traditional stereotypes are still defining the way that many women live in Jordan. This results in 80% of Jordanian women being financially dependent on someone else. We must invest in human capital – because resources generate power and a better economic situation will immensely contribute to our country’s overall development. ANA HUNNA is already a powerful tool to advocate women’s rights.”

Dr. Abeer Dababneh is a founding member of ANA HUNNA International Network and was until July 2019 Director and Associate Professor of the Center for Women’s Studies (CWS) at the University of Jordan. The centre is the national arm for the ANA HUNNA activities in Jordan and has implemented the ANA HUNNA Female Mentoring with great success.

In August 2019 Dr. Abeer Dababneh was appointed as government coordinator for human rights.

Dr. Abeer is passionate about education, human rights, gender equality and youth development. Her experience in the field of women’s economic empowerment, both on regional and international level, are a valuable asset for the ANA HUNNA International Network e.V..
